Paintings depicting Maria and Paul's stay in Venice

 Balla was commissioned to create two paintings about Maria and Paul's visit to Venice - "Dinner"and "The Orphans'concert"(Fondazione Scientifica Querini Stampalia)

This is one of six paintings commissioned by the city authorities from Franceso Guardi. The series is incomplete and we only know of three paintings belonging to it: "The concert at the Casino dei Filarmonici"( Alte Pinakothek, Munich), "The Ball and Dinner at the Theatre OF S. Benedetto"(Private collection, Switzerland) and this one.
